The Cabin
A downloadable game for Windows
About the Game
This project is my first completed game in Unreal Engine.
It tells a short, mysterious story set in a dark forest and an old wooden cabin. The atmosphere shifts between curiosity and unease as the player explores and uncovers small narrative elements hidden in the environment

Development
Creating this project was a huge learning experience for me. Along the way, I faced challenges with performance optimization, Blueprint scripting, UI design and video and sound integration inside the engine. I also experimented a lot with lighting and atmosphere to achieve the deep blue nighttime look that defines the scene.

Assets & Tools
All 3D assets in this game were modeled with blender by me.
Textures were mostly sourced from Freestylized.com, and voice acting was generated using ElevenLabs.

This is not a commercial game— it’s a learning project, created to explore environmental storytelling, lighting, and technical workflows in Unreal Engine.
I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Warning:
Ultra Graphic settings are not stable and could cause heavy performance issues. If you experience a very low frame rate or game crashes, it might help to check and lower the graphics settings.

It's ok 👍
Hi there, just wanted to say it was a great experience, especially since this is your first game! Wow! I was really impressed. Though, I wish we could've seen what was in the box at the end, I think that would make the demo hook people more. You can check out my playthrough if you wish, along with some minor feedback, but overall great job! Hope you keep working on it. :)
Thank you so much for the video, I really enjoyed it! Your feedback is very helpful! I'm glad you had fun with the game and next time, I will make it possible to pick up the Axe :D
Haha yeah just to carry it for emotional support :D But yeah, the game looks very promising and thank you for working on it! Looking forward to the full release :)
not so spooky like game, but is ok, the game needs some optimization, on my ASUS TUF GAMING F15 the game works with 42 FPS on LOW settings with GPU and CPU on 100% usage
Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, the game needs some performance optimization. It's my first real game created with a bigger Game engine (Unreal Engine 5), so optimization was a huge issue and struggle for me.
My guess is, that the volumetric lighting causes the low frame rate. For example, I did not bake the light, so the light and shadows are calculated in every frame. But since this is just a learning project for me to learn the basics of Unreal Engine, I probably won't update and further optimize the game.
But I still hope you had some fun playing and exploring the environment nonetheless!
